Fourth and Fifth Class Engineering Workshop with Punch Consulting Engineers
Fourth and Fifth Class recently had an exciting opportunity to work with engineers from Punch Consulting Engineers, who visited our school to share their expertise and inspire our young learners.
The workshop introduced the children to the world of engineering — exploring how engineers design bridges, buildings, and sustainable infrastructure. The pupils learned about:
-
Different types of engineering (civil, structural, environmental)
-
The importance of planning, teamwork and problem-solving
-
How engineering helps protect our environment and communities
Hands-On Challenge
The highlight of the session was a practical engineering challenge! Working in small teams, the children were tasked with designing and building their own structures using simple materials. They had to:
There was fantastic collaboration, creativity and critical thinking on display. The room was buzzing with excitement as pupils tested their structures and discussed improvements.
Inspiring Future Engineers
It was wonderful to see the children so engaged and asking thoughtful questions about careers in engineering. Experiences like this help make real-world connections to our STEM learning and show how maths, science and creativity work together in everyday life.
A huge thank you to the team from Punch Consulting Engineers for giving their time and inspiring our future engineers!
