Music Generation under the guidance of Leslie Dowdall started in this school in 2023.
Music Generation is co-funded in schools by U2, The Ireland Funds, The Department ofEducation, Education Boards and Local Councils and parents. Leslie is one Ireland’s leading female vocalists and singer songwriters, the lead singer with In Tua Nua and has released several solo albums. She has performed widely nationally and internationally.
We are very lucky to have her. All the children enjoy ‘Ms. Leslie's’ days and we all love the Music Generation concerts.
Christmas Plays/Concerts.
There are Christmas plays every second year. Every other year there will be a carol
performance. Our next Christmas plays are December 2024.
Arklow Music Festival

The school participates in the Arklow Music Festival each year in recitations. Registration is done in school and parents pay the registration fee to the school. Parents must bring the children to the venues themselves. The school will inform you of the date and time as soon as the schedule is printed. You may buy the catalogue which is available in many Arklow shops. The children will be prepared for their recitation in school. The school has won many accolades from adjudicators over the years at this festival (2nd to the Feis Ceoil) in Ireland.
During a recent school inspection, the Department Inspectors remarked on the high-performance standard of the children. Participation is greatly encouraged for self-esteem and wellbeing.
Dance
Kate Redmond Elevation School of Performing Artshttps://www.elevationschoolofperformingarts.com/ is our dance teacher. Kate is also a qualified gymnastic teacher and has many years’ experience. She was also a dancer in Lord of the Rings and brings a great eye to choreography in her shows. Children enjoy these dance/movement lessons.
Percussion Workshops

We have a series of workshops in drumming in the first term of 2024. This is facilitated by David Day Jabba Jabba Jembe. Whilst developing many musical skills it is excellent for children’s wellbeing.
